<alkisg>
Has anyone experienced problems with logging in on fat clients recently? (X reset...)
06:50
The problem is that the user doesn't have access to LDM's xauthority, and this is easily fixable, what I wonder about is why previously he had access to that file, when there's no such code in ltsp...
06:50
Maybe some X update broke it...
06:50
That would also affect localapps

<jammcq>
good morning friends
13:35
<alkisg>
Hi jammcq, did you see the question about BTS sponsorship yesterday?
13:35
<jammcq>
no, missed it
13:35
<alkisg>
tfdl was looking to donate some money to ltsp,
13:35
<jammcq>
hmmm, that would be nice
13:35
<alkisg>
and we suggested to him to sponsor something of the bts,
13:35
but there's no contact info in the bts page
13:35
<jammcq>
the wiki page has a list of things that need sponsorship
13:36
hmm
13:36
I should fix that

yes, I'll be focusing on it during BTS. I want to get the 'Search' function back on the screen

and then start getting lots more content up
13:39
just finding the BTS-2013 page is an exercize in frustration
13:39* alkisg hopes this year's bts will jumpstart ltsp 6... :)

<jammcq>
yep
14:02
<bennabiy>
One thing that needs to be addressed is documenting all the not so documented things
14:03
There have been major changes since the last upstream documentation, and lots of config files which have little or no documentation other than alkisg said... or vagra... you get the picture :)

jammcq, hmm, I already have a car rented.
15:24
<jammcq>
pscheie: well... then you could wait there for him and give him a ride?

ahh
18:00
great
18:00
what port does epoptes use for administration?
18:00
by default
18:00
<Phantomas>
you will need to replace it wherever epoptes-client is installed though.
18:01
What do you mean "for administration"?
18:01
<bennabiy>
I mean to be able to use it over a firewalled network, what port does epoptes communicate with epoptes client
18:02
<Phantomas>
epoptesd uses 789 for communication with epoptes-client(s)

I assume something with autorespawn of the terminal but I'm not sure if it would be easier/more useful in X or directly through the console
21:06
I would be researching this a bit more but I was just given this and it needs to be done by tomorrow :-O

so needed some help!

terminals being RaspberryPi(es) heh

using LTSP, or some other thing?
21:09
with LTSP, you'd just have to set SCREEN_07=telnet
21:10
i think, anyways
21:10
might need some other settings if your LTSP server isn't the same as your telnet server
21:10
in lts.conf, that is

<lns>
vagrantc, hi =) I'm wondering how well the Pi's perform in LTSP (without local apps, of course I would assume that would be a bit too much for them to handle)
22:56
<vagrantc>
lns: pretty slow last i tried
22:57
lns: the model i tested on only had 256MB of ram ... the 512MB model might work a little better ... but still probably slow.
22:57
i'd highly recommend some other board like cubieboard or beagleboneblack or wandboard ... just about anything other than the raspberry pi
22:58
<lns>
That's what I figured
22:58
Hmm, those sound interesting =) /me googles
22:58
<vagrantc>
maybe if you got the accelerated graphics working on the pi, it would make up for it
22:59
those other boards are only a little more expensive, but can run straight debian or ubuntu (if you can get aa working kernel)
22:59
<lns>
oh, is that not functional right now? yeah I bet that would help a lot
23:00
aww, cubieboard doesn't have gigabit ethernet =( still not a big deal i guess, seems like very nice specs for something like that, compares well to other thin clients
23:00
<vagrantc>
raspberry pi either requires running debian's armel port, which doesn't take advatage of some of the floating point processing, or run raspbian (a rebuild of debian, lags behind debian a bit in packages) or some other OS
23:02
<lns>
debian is my only choice really at this point for stuff like this =) It's really never let me down like any other (besides some pulseaudio craziness, which I will attribute to my own mistakes most likely)

raspberry pi being ARMv6 makes it a very frustrating choice... all modern distros require ARMv7

(other than debian's armel port, which supports ARMv5+ (maybe v4?))

I've been using debian's armel port for an ARMv5 system for quite a while with a lot of success (http://www.ionics-ems.com/plugtop/stratus.html), though not ltsp. I remember having some issues compiling with standard utils but other than that its rock solid
