<vsuojanen>
has anyone made success netbooting grub2 image grubnetx64.efi.signed? i can boot chainloading x86PC-64EFI -> ipxe -> /var/lib/tftboot/grubnetx64.efi.signed but /var/lib/tftpboot/grub/grub.cfg is not loading
08:53
<alkisg>
vsuojanen: yes, but not with proxydhcp, only with real dhcp
08:54
For proxydhcp this is needed:
08:54
isset ${proxydhcp/dhcp-server} && set srv ${proxydhcp/dhcp-server} || set srv ${next-server}
08:55
set net0/dhcp-server ${srv}
08:55
set net0/next-server ${srv}
08:55
So that grub knows to use the proxydhcp server and not the real one, to get grub.cfg

<mwalters>
I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but I can't find it: I have a few fat clients that get stuck @ "powering off" when powering off and the client just sits there until you force the machine off. What could be the deal? I have many "similar" systems (intel j1900 systems) and they don't all do it

mwalters: it's usually "not using the greek schools ppa in the chroot"
12:34
<mwalters>
ts.sch.gr, right?
12:35
yeah, I have the ppa =/
12:35
<alkisg>
sudo ltsp-info | nc termbin.com 9999
12:35
<mwalters>
ops, that wasn't the chroot
12:36
<alkisg>
:)
12:36
<mwalters>
derp
12:36
odd, dunno why it wouldn't be in the chroot
12:36
!ppa
12:36
<ltsp>
I do not know about 'ppa', but I do know about these similar topics: 'sbalneav-ppa', 'greek-schools-ppa'
12:37
<alkisg>
!install
12:37
<ltsp>
install: http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/Installation/Ubuntu for Ubuntu, or http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/Installation for other distributions
12:37
<mwalters>
!greek-schools-ppa
12:37
<ltsp>
greek-schools-ppa: https://launchpad.net/~ts.sch.gr/+archive/ppa/ supports LTS Ubuntu releases with newer LTSP versions, bug fixes etc
12:37
<alkisg>
The install instructions cover that part
12:38
<mwalters>
yeah, p sure I followed that exactly
12:38
any issue with adding it manually and just "apt dist-upgrade"ing, you think?
12:41
screw it, I'm gonna see what happens
12:41
I can blame any issues on monday

mwalters: sure, adding it and dist-upgrading sounds fine
13:27
<mwalters>
thanks, it was too late ;)
13:27
seems to work fine

<josefig>
is it possible to manage different distro images for different pcs? example: I want debian ARM on couple of raspberry pi ..
17:19
<alkisg>
Sure, it's just chroots and mac address mappings...
17:26
<josefig>
alkisg, yes I assumed that, but how can I download that image ?
17:43
<Hyperbyte>
josefig, easiest is to install LTSP on a Raspberry Pi and build and image.
17:43
Then transfer that image to your server.
17:49
<josefig>
Hyperbyte, I thought that to be honest with you. But I assumed there was a form using my current setup.
17:49
<alkisg>
josefig: are you asking "how to use ltsp-build-client to create a debian arm chroot"?
17:50
<josefig>
alkisg, that's right sir.
17:50
<alkisg>
Here's the equivalent for ubuntu: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/RaspberryPi
17:50
<josefig>
Ok, thanks, i will review it.

<vsuojanen>
alkisg: many thanks for the reply, I built against x86-64EFI platform ipxe image ipxe.usb (for testing), booted, interrupted to prompt, dhcp net0 and checked next-server is set 192.168.67.1. dnsmasq without proxydhcp. I have tested in virtualbox now, can't get the grub.cfg settings loaded with http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/main/uefi/grub2-amd64/current/grubnetx64.efi.signed
19:56
this x86-64_EFI > ipxe.efi/snponly.efi (chainloading/usb) > grubnetx64.efi.signed
20:24
<alkisg>
vsuojanen: do you see a tftp request? And for which file?
20:24
(in the server syslog)
