<ncd209>
hey how ya doing alkisg
06:27
<alkisg>
Hello
06:27
<ncd209>
did you see my question alkisg ?
06:29
<alkisg>
ncd209: it's impolite to ask specific people in here, it's better to ask in the channel and just wait for anyone available to answer. As for your question, it's ltsp-localapps, with an "s" at the end, not ltsp-localapp.
06:29
<ncd209>
http://pastebin.com/ffjSkciw
06:29
<alkisg>
Also, I think you had a different nickname last time we spoke? :)
06:30
<ncd209>
ah sorry i did
06:30
i am sunscreen
06:30
<alkisg>
OK, did you manage to get rdesktop working?
06:30
<ncd209>
just wanted to ask you cause you know what your talking about ;)
06:30
yea
06:30
from xterm it just connected right away
06:31
<alkisg>
Are you sure that was a *local* xterm/
06:31
?
06:31
And not a terminal inside the session, which runs on the server?
06:32
<ncd209>
i made a normal user from root account on the ltsp client logged in as that account and then did xterm --display :7
06:33
<alkisg>
And what was running in display :7 at that time? ldm ?
06:33
<ncd209>
rdesktop
06:33
or supposed to be
06:33
<alkisg>
Which distro/version is that again? ubuntu 11.04?
06:33
Or debian?
06:34
<ncd209>
debian squeeze
06:34
<alkisg>
OK. Let's properly troubleshoot this. Put SCREEN_06=your rdesktop etc, and SCREEN_07=ldm
06:34
<ncd209>
oki
06:35
<alkisg>
Then login in SCREEN_07 and run `ltsp-localapps xterm` and on that xterm run `ps -ef > /tmp/ps-output` and pastebin the output
06:36
<ncd209>
updating image ;)
06:37
<alkisg>
No need
06:37
Don't update the image every time you change lts.conf settings....
06:38
<ncd209>
ok i thought i had too
06:40
ok
06:40
now i got 06= black rdesktop with mouse cursor
06:40
07 = ldm
06:41
<alkisg>
OK, login in ldm
06:41
<ncd209>
as a remote user ?
06:41
<alkisg>
Use the username/password from any user on the server
06:41
Yes, as a remote user
06:41
<ncd209>
kk logged in
06:41
<alkisg>
Now open gnome-terminal
06:42
Inside gnome-terminal, run: ltsp-localapps xterm
06:42
Did an xterm open?
06:42
<ncd209>
yep
06:43
<alkisg>
What does it say in the prompt? user@ltsp14?
06:44
<ncd209>
yea it sais ncd209@ltsp21
06:44
<alkisg>
Good
06:44
Now run: ps -ef|grep rdesktop
06:44
And paste the output

No, not on the server
06:48
On the client, on that local xterm
06:48
<ncd209_>
oops
06:49
<alkisg>
And for rdesktop, you were supposed to check there

http://pastebin.com/1vKPZ8gd
06:52
<alkisg>
ncd209_: ok, that's better, but still rdesktop isn't running
06:53
Now, it's possible that it's in a loop, trying and failing, and you caught it when it was failing == not running
06:53
Ah before going there
06:53
<ncd209_>
http://pastebin.com/asiNMvPj
06:53
<alkisg>
Paste the output of this: getltscfg -a
06:55
And then run this: while true; do ps -ef | grep /usr/bin/rdesktop | grep -v grep; done

if not, interrupt it after a few secs
06:56
<ncd209_>
no outputs
06:56
<alkisg>
OK
06:56
Try this, again on xterm: rdesktop -a 16 -x lan -r sound:local 192.168.1.20
06:57
<ncd209_>
logged in
06:57
well rdesktop started
06:57
<alkisg>
Then it sounds like a bug in the squeeze rdesktop.sh script
06:57
Can you pastebin those:
06:57
/usr/share/ltsp/screen.d/rdesktop
06:57
and
06:58
/usr/share/ltsp/rdesktop.sh

07:01
no .. its not

<alkisg>
ncd209_: it's probably this bug again
07:02
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ltsp/+bug/682706
07:02
mgariepy: could you have a look at it? I think it broke with the latest rdesktop commit...
07:03
<ncd209_>
tnx alkisg ;)
07:03
<alkisg>
ncd209_: so update that script (add a "$@" there), and run ltsp-update-image ... erm wait, why are you running ltsp-update-image if you're on debian and using nfs?
07:04
ltsp-update-image is only needed if you're using nbd instead of nfs. Ubuntu uses nbd by default, Debian uses nfs by default.
07:07
<ncd209>
i am using nbd

how can i specify a HTTP Proxy for ltsp clients?
11:18
trying to enforce squid on the network and need the LTSP clients to access the web through the proxy

how is that, cause I don't know after the fact
11:51
we already have a LTSP server set up, it's just getting firefox and the system to use the proxy

<Hyperbyte>
TheMatrix3000_, what pmatulis means is that your question isn't really part of the LTSP project scope
13:41
LTSP provides a thin client with a desktop. Anything that happens with the applications inside that desktop, is part of your Linux distribution and not LTSP.
13:42
For example, if you're using Ubuntu, you could just type 'ubuntu configure proxy' into Google, and it'll give you a bunch of links.
13:43
If you run into problems with booting the thin clients, or hardware problems or such, then it's likely LTSP. If you run into problems after you login, then it's likely something for which you'd better seek direct support for your distro
