work_alkisg, Hi :) sorry the internet got disconnected
09:18
Okay first thing is I want to know
09:18
is there anything I need to install on thinclient ?
09:18
<work_alkisg>
No
09:19
<gagan>
work_alkisg, it has some "Similar to windows xp" UI
09:19
its an HP thinclient
09:20
Okay :) I don't need to install anything on the client itself.
09:20
It means I have to install the ltsp on my Server which in this case is my laptop
09:20
<work_alkisg>
Yes
09:20
<gagan>
correct ?
09:20
I see
09:44
work_alkisg, and on my server
09:44
I need to install
09:44
sudo apt-get install ltsp-server-standalone
09:44
and it says now create an ltsp client
09:44
what is the use of this client image

14:25
they still don't see the intel video driver not offering true 720p on a 11" laptop as a problem, even though the windows driver does. specifically, for mirroring to projectors.

14:46
<||cw>
except for that one time when they rolled back a perl version and didn't roll back all the packages that depended on the newer version
14:46
it'll likely be debian proper, or maybe mint
14:48PhoenixSTF has left IRC (PhoenixSTF!~rudiservo@78.29.147.214, Quit: Leaving)
14:49
<vagrantc>
mint inherrits a lot of what ubuntu does, for better or worse, just by virtue of using mostly ubuntu packages without modification
14:50
<||cw>
I know. but there is also modification
14:50
ubuntu also uses a lot of debian packages without modification as well
14:50
<ogra_>
yeah, they tend to change libs in mint without bumping the ABI
14:51
(while they in fact bumped it ... launchpad is full of fallout bugs from that)
14:51
<vagrantc>
||cw: not actually true, they rebuild all of them. mint doesn't.
14:51
<||cw>
IMO, rebuild isn't a modify
14:51
<vagrantc>
it is if you're using a different compiler with different defaults
14:52
<ogra_>
or a newer libc
14:52
<||cw>
how much does that really matter?
14:52
sometimes a lot, but mostly...
14:53
<vagrantc>
bugs are only problems when they are problems.
14:53
they're fine all the other times.
14:53
<ogra_>
it does matter for compatibility ... you cant just use debian packages in ubuntu ...
14:53
and it shouldnt be possible for mint to use ubuntu packages since they change underlying libs without rebuilds
14:53
which causes all sorts of issues
14:53* vagrantc didn't know mint changes ABI without marking it as such
14:54
<ogra_>
they patch gtk and stuff
14:54
if they would mark their API/ABI break as they should the ubuntu packages wouldnt be installable pproperly
14:54
but to still have them installable they dont ...
14:55* vagrantc sighs
14:55
<ogra_>
which causes broken binary behavior at times
14:55
<||cw>
but the issues with ubuntu isn't so much bugs, but choices, and redirection, and buck-passing
14:55
<ogra_>
(this is what all that "canonical asked mint to license binaries" was about ... )
15:10* ben_nabiy sighs...
15:15
<vagrantc>
ben_nabiy: :)

15:29
<ben_nabiy>

15:29
or do you mean system logs?
15:30
<ogra_>
ben_nabiy, no. your question about FF, TB and pidgin
15:30

15:30

15:32
<ben_nabiy>
nothing there
15:33

We might stick to 12.04 with the old xorg and the new trusty kernel, and then switch to debian+mate

alkisg, hi... what's generally issue if someone gets initramfs error?
18:43
That's what someone is telling me... I can't recall the exact error.
18:44
<vagrantc>
usually misconfigured dhcp
18:44
though there was a recent bug in ubuntu that caused problems with NBD
18:44
but essentially, it means it can't mount the root filesystem
18:45
<bennabiy>
Hyperbyte, depends on the point, but I remember encountering it a lot when NBD needs to be force-reload ed
18:46
<Hyperbyte>
bennabiy, this disconnects clients, right?
18:47
<bennabiy>
yes
18:48
<Hyperbyte>
I've had this before I think, with mistaches between PXE boot trying to look for NBD mount "ltsp_i386" and NBD mount name being "/opt/ltsp/i386" in the nbd config
18:48
*mismatches
18:48
<bennabiy>
The way to tell if it is nbd related is to clear the plymouth screen and see if it is coming up with an error trying to find root device
18:49
<Hyperbyte>
I'm not physically there.
18:49
Which doesn't help.
18:49
<bennabiy>
hmm

I have had to bounce the nbd-server twice in the last 40 days...
19:11
(14.04)
19:12
in 12.04 I was getting weird issue on i386 image in that the nbd size was being reported as [1-5] petabytes in size, and that i needed to get a 64 bit machine to support.
19:13
which didnt make any sense because the ltsp server only had a 1.2TB /
19:14
<alkisg>
Just a mishandled negotiation, nothing serious... :)
19:14
Probably a wrong nbd configuration
19:15
