<lifeboy>
Hi everyone!
10:20
I'm having a strange resurrection of an error as described in this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ltsp/+bug/505916
10:22
<work_alkisg>
distro/version?
10:23
<lifeboy>
the solution to that was to upgrade udhcpc (which is v 0.9.9 in Ubuntu Lucid 10.04) to 1.15, but when I try to install that, I get a message saying busybox is not installed, yet it is.
10:23
Ubuntu 10.04 i386 client on 12.04 server
10:24
<work_alkisg>
OK so it's not a resurrection, the bug was never resolved in 10.04
10:24
<lifeboy>
It was working fine for a long time now, and suddenly it occurs. Actually I have one server where it's still working fine, but the other not.
10:25
I've been comparing versions to see what is different and all seems to be the same, but it clearly isn't
10:25
But there was a workaround offered by yourself which I can't get implemented.
10:27
Both are using dnsmasq as dhcp server, same version with identical 10.04 i386 chroots. (I copied the working one the other server where it doesn't work).
10:28
The thin client hardware is also identical

<lifeboy>
I have made the changes to /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-premount/udhcp by removing the -c "$clientid" part and updated initramfs, etc. I still get this response "udhcpc (v0.9.9-pre) started", then "Sending discover..." 3 times and then "No lease, failing" when I boot the client
10:50
btw, Alkisg, the option to use the a Debian chroot was proving too difficult for me. I just couldn't get it working properly, which is why I opted for a 10.04 client with the modifications to nbd-server and using -o "quiet splash nbdport=2002" with ltps-update-image.

I've seen it but thought was due to some weird problems I had in the lan that day (one link of the bond disconnected)

Hi All, I;m using CRONTAB_xx entries in lts.conf (primarily for thin clients reboots). It works fine in 99% cases. But when LTSP server gets restarted in the meantime after thin terminals started and before I want to reboot them by schedule, they (terminals) cannot locate "/sbin/reboot" so they fail to restart
15:36
In this case I need to restart them manually as they totally unresponsive after LTSP server reboot
15:38* vagrantc wonders if reboots can be initiated by echoing to some file in /proc or /sys
15:39
<vagrantc>
Simon__: i presume you're using NBD?
15:39
it's not very resilient in the case of a missing server
15:39
<Simon__>
yes
15:39
<vagrantc>
perhaps that's an understatement
15:40
<Simon__>
The server is down only for the time of reboot and by the time I want to restart thin terminal it is already up... but terminal cannot communicate with it
15:42
<alkisg>
echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger
15:42
<vagrantc>
can you adjust the reboot times at all?
15:42
alkisg: that might be a good failsafe if we can detect a yanked rootfs
15:43
<alkisg>
There's also a panic=30 kernel parameter, to automatically reboot 30 secs after a kernel panic
15:43

https://github.com/yoe/nbd/commit/6abdd46853f475aa917551d43197410a99fd09ce => nbd-client: try harder to reconnect in persist mode
19:07
That should help a lot with server restarts ;)
19:08
...and with client stability on problematic networks too
19:10* alkisg wonders if he can just install nbd-client and nbd-server from 14.04 to 12.04... :)

you might be able to

It might needs something newer from the nbd kernel module, too... I'll probably have to just install it and see if it works

Hello, how can I change ldm "Username" and Preferences Menu to another language?
19:13
<alkisg>
distro/version?
19:17
<gbit>
debian/wheezy
19:17
<alkisg>
which language, e.g. el_GR.UTF-8 ?
19:17
<gbit>
pt_BR
19:18
here is my lts.conf http://pastebin.com/e6dWnkXU

I looked at /opt/ltsp/i386/ldm/themes/ too but with no success
19:19
<alkisg>
ls /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/share/locale/*/LC_MESSAGES/ldm.mo
19:19
I don't see pt_BR there, let me look in launchpad translations...
19:20
Ah sorry it's in pt
19:21
<gbit>
Should I copy it to pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES?
19:22
<alkisg>
No, it's empty
19:22
https://translations.launchpad.net/ltsp/ldm-trunk/+lang/pt_BR
19:22
Start there, translate ldm to your language :)
19:23
I don't know if plain "pt" may help you or not: https://translations.launchpad.net/ltsp/ldm-trunk/+lang/pt
19:23
<gbit>
thank you alkisg
19:23
<alkisg>
np
19:24
You might also want to translate ltsp: https://translations.launchpad.net/ltsp/ltsp-trunk/+lang/pt_BR
19:24
<vagrantc>
the pt_BR translations were lagging, last i recall
19:25
<alkisg>
gbit: when you're done, tell me to enable translations commits, so that vagrantc includes them in his next debian upload...
19:25
<vagrantc>
yeah, that'd be good
19:26
<gbit>
OK
