I have installed LTSP on Kubuntu 16.0.4.3LTS (single NIC) using the LTSP-Manager, but am unable to connect to it using BerryTerminal.
14:47
Can someone help me understand which all services should I check on my host machine that will confirm that the LTSP server is running fine.
14:48
<alkisg>
!raspberrypi
14:48
<ltsp>
raspberrypi: (#1) Ubuntu/LTSP on Pi 2: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/RaspberryPi, or (#2) Debian/LTSP (with raspbian chroot) on Pi: http://cascadia.debian.net/trenza/Documentation/raspberrypi-ltsp-howto/, or (#3) unofficial Ubuntu/LTSP (with raspbian chroot) on Pi: http://pinet.org.uk/
14:49
<alkisg>
jp_: we only support #1 and #2 here
14:49
pinet and berryterminal have their own support channels... somewhere... probably... :)
14:50
#1 works just fine with ltsp manager
14:56
<jp_>
I have installed LTSP on a normal desktop (Intel Core2 / 4GB ram) running 64bit Kubuntu 16.04.3LTS. And I want to connect to it using a RaspberryPi.
14:57
So, was thinking BerryTerminal might be a convenient option.
14:58
<alkisg>
#1 is the best option for that. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/RaspberryPi
14:58
<jp_>
But I don't even get the BerryTerminal graphics login screen when I start my RaspberryPi. So, want to first make sure that LTSP is installed properly (on my Kubuntu desktop) and if all the services are running on it correctly.
14:59
<alkisg>
BerryTerminal is not supported here, we support the native ltsp method to netboot raspberry pis
14:59
We support the code we wrote ourselves, not some other unrelated code written and maintained? by others
15:02
<jp_>
Thanks for the hints, I just now found that LTSP-Manager by default did not install the LTSP-Client for RaspberryPi.

<alkisg>
Eh, that makes no sense :)
15:03
ltsp-manager installs ltsp-client for the arch you're running, and creates no chroots

15:03
<alkisg>
If you then use ltsp-build-client, that will install ltsp-client int he chroot you're running it in
15:03
<jp_>
... as I do not find the /etc/ltsp/ltsp-build-client-raspi2.conf itself on my machine.
15:03
<alkisg>
Please follow the instructions I wrote, you create that file manually
15:04
<jp_>
Yes, I guess I missed that part.
15:05
Thanks guys. Let me put in some more effort in there before I can see the magic.
15:06
<alkisg>
Just undo whatever the berryterminal page suggested
15:06
So that it doesn't conflict with the proper method
15:08
<jp_>
Well, I have not done anything on the server part that berryterminal says, because those docs are based on Edubuntu (which isn't what I wanted).

All that I want is a simple dumb terminal so that I can use my kubuntu desktop in parallel while someone else is working on the desktop.
15:10
<alkisg>
If I understood you correctly, you created a chroot and booted the client but not up to the login screen... there are several changes involved to do those steps...
