cliebow :I'm having a sleepless night with my 8363 :-(
I got it update my firmware
but it seems it doesn't realy understand PXE booting but I was able to boot a static linked kernel via NFS ..
but I tried compiling my own regular kernel static linked and try to let the client boot through a vmlinux that NFS exported
that didn't work
I noticed that it has a choice for tftp in its bios but it doesn't really use it ..is there a way to hack this bios or something!
rafiks:it wont pxe boot
did you read the wiki?
gettoing in the shower
|07:49||budgee has quit IRC|
i was able to boot sort of micro distro via nfs but ,,with my self compiled kernel the results weren't that thrilling

J45p3r:Hey! ill go after your dansguardian.conf by and by..
cliebow : I was looking at inside of TC ,there is an NS boot rom ,is it possible to replace this?
with a pxe booting rom..

i found lots of stuff on the wiki site that i hadn't run into before...the default screen depth kept going back to 16 instead of 24
we should install nx and set your router so i can get in
good idea.....i feel like a champion....!
did the paypal stuff clear?
i dont see anythig more..
i dont see any payment
so there is no deposit in your account
is that normal to get that type of e-mail and have it take this long for the $ to show?
what should i do..
want to set your router so i can ssh in?
i sent her an e-mail asking if she can check on her payment and if she could contact paypal to see what's up.
i got a falure notice from an e-mail to you from a day ago
didn't we try the router thing before and i didn't take for some reason
i think i have gremlins in my computer
c-->@ltsp.org was down yesterday
i think perhaps
so you created your own server and thus have your own e-mail address off that?
is that the same as your firewall?
no..jim offered me the address @ltsp.org and it forwards to midmaine..or anywhere ..i didnt jnow how long i'd have midmaine
ahhh i get it...thats a great idea
i am one of the proud..the few..with an ltsp.org address

what do you use?
cliebow : do you have a working kernel config for the 8363?
any durn thing i can find
ido..but it is for 2.4.19
cliebow : i tried everything in the kernel static ,this is 2.6.16
rafiks:you know..you can out a flash card in andf boot from that
NO one has gotten a 2.6 kernel to boot on netvista that i know of
cliebow : i know..but i want to try out the network first..
cliebow :can I have that config please..
cliebow : i think the gotcha is the devfs thingy right?
rafiks: ohh you want a .config to build a kernel..i dont know whether i can put my hands on that
cliebow : i couldn't get that kernel in the wiki..
but i soent a lot of time outting otgether ancd comparing the 2.4 and 2.6 ltsp configs..
you want 2.4.19?
it has to be <ltsp4.1
yeah ,,i tried compiling a 2.4 kernel ..it bums out..i dunno whats wrong..a missing include something
no..it must be an uncompressed kernel
has to be
cliebow :ltsp4.1 ..ok ..
yeah..i used the vmlinux
i mean the compilition doesnt for 2.4
i compiled 2.6.19 ok..
i am confused what you need..i have never compiled one to work'
only used someone elses
i can't get a vmlinux from a package? or can i?
i dont see it in debian..
all i see are vmlinuz
and i don't I decompressed that ...can i?
and i don't think I can decompressed that ...can i?

|11:34||AnRkey has joined #ltsp|

yeah..i forget which version
cliebow : i found an IBM Linux tool kit for n2200
in the tarball??yes?
cliebow : no on the IBM website...
cliebow : i see there are some docs on how to compile kernel
rangerpb works for ibm..has played with these too and could not get a 2.6 kernel to load\
cliebow : anyway, will try 4.1 and the compiled 2.4 kernel..

vagrantc, how are u?
hey people I have a problem with LTSP 4.2 in this moment a station with a network card Realtek 8139 says: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 transmit time out Kernel Panic - Attempt syncing
usually a bad network card
vagrantc, ummm... In past time I have this problem, but I don't remember howto I solved this problem :S
|15:26||* vagrantc has only been sucessful replacing the NIC|
maybe sometimes the network cable or hub/switch ...
|15:28||* vagrantc needs to do some testing of the latest debian packages|
|15:29||yhan has joined #ltsp|
what is the fix alreay for firefox flash sound problem ?
|15:29||* vagrantc needs to go for a walk while it is still light out|
I think there is a way to start ff so every sound will be forced to be player with esd
umm I got a bus error
ummm, I found a possible solution for my problem
but I don't know howto make this
put in the boot of the station acpi off?
edgarin, a kernel parameter
I don't know which exactly
something like acpi=off
yhan, yes is a parameter of the kernel, but howto I can modify this parameters?
|15:48||gigabytes has quit IRC|
do you mean the terminal ?
if yes you need to modify /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/pxelinux.cfg/default
there you can set the kernel parameters for the terminals
however if you need to do that for only one terminal, you will need to add an entry for this term in yr dhcp server and in tftp reposity

cliebow : I think the kernel doesn't recognize my ps2 to usb adapter
cliebow : i don't have a keyboard and a mouse! bummer!
cliebow : do you know if this is compiled in the kernel? screen goes to fast I can't see if it's recognize at all...
cliebow: hmm..got to figure out how to compile this kernel ..if only i can have the .config..and the patches .. i looked at the IBM linux toolkit..they are still using kernel 2.2!
cliebow : do you still have kernel patches for the kernel?
and thanks cliebow
