hi alkisg, do you have some time to troubleshooting a epoptes problem? Hope is not kde related

13:16
<markit>
when I broadcast the video it works until I open another program in the teacher's PC, then che client broadcast stops
13:16
epoptes 0.5.10-1, (k)ubuntu 16.04
13:18
ltsp 5.5.9+t201706270552~ubuntu16.04.1... maybe better upgrade to 5.5.9+t201708260827~ubuntu16.04.1 and test again
13:47
mmm if I'm in chroot, can't resolve names (dns)
13:51
ok, shortcut, removed resolver

<markit>
alkisg: epoptes seems to "crash" the broadcast at client level (I still see clients in epoptes, but is the broadcast there that disappears)
14:21
<alkisg>
Hi markit
14:21
<markit>
hi alkisg, I'm so happy to hear you :)
14:21
btw, in chroot I've removed resolvconf, I had no dns resolution there
14:22
(when I tried to update the chroot)
14:22
<alkisg>
Uh, ok, you just needed to update your /etc/resolv.conf
14:22
So you just press the epoptes "broadcast teacher screen" button,
14:22
and then it works,
14:22
<markit>
alkisg: you mean "on the fly"?
14:22
<alkisg>
and then you open an unrelated program like e.g. libreoffice,
14:22
and then it crashes?
14:23
About resolv.conf? Yes
14:23
<markit>
alkisg: back to epoptes problem
14:23
I have the screen broadcasted, if I move some opened window/program it crashes, imediately or after some second
14:24
<alkisg>
Can you read what I wrote and say yes/no?
14:24
<markit>
I see the thumbail of the clients back to their original (local) content
14:24
"and then it crashes?" YES
14:24
<alkisg>
OK, let me see..
14:24
!vnc-edide
14:24
<ltsp>
vnc-edide: To share your screen with me, open Epoptes → Help menu → Remote support → Host: srv1-dide.ioa.sch.gr, and click the Connect button
14:32
<alkisg>
xcb] Unknown sequence number while processing queue
14:32
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
14:32
[xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
14:32
x11vnc: ../../src/xcb_io.c:274: poll_for_event: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed.
14:32
caught signal: 6
14:32
extra[1] signal: -1
14:33
So, it happens when I press any key after broadcasting
14:33
Maybe some kde library is interfering with some vnc library
14:33
<markit>
also if you click around moving windows
14:33
<alkisg>
I haven't seen that
14:33
We can google it and report it to x11vnc...
14:34
I hope it's not related to simultaneously using x11vnc many times
14:34
E.g. now you're sending your screen to me, AND to the clients
14:35
<markit>
ah, I can try and paste you the output... well, I already had the output when crashes
14:35
<alkisg>
This is fine, I put it in irc here
14:35
<markit>
private question mark
14:35
<alkisg>
But I don't have kde so it will be difficult for me to report the x11vnc bug
14:36
It would be best if you run `xvnc4viewer -listen` and `x11vnc -connect` and reproduce it without epoptes, and report it yourself...
14:36
Does it happen in all kde setups?
14:36
<markit>
well, with 14.04 did not, and probably only in this school they have 16.04 AND use broadcast
14:37
this is a 12.04 to 16.04 updated installation
14:37
<alkisg>
OK... one way to start would be to reproduce it in a clean 16.04 kde installation
14:37
If it happens there too, then reproduce it without epoptes
14:37
So then finally, report it to x11vnc...
14:38
<markit>
ok, I will let you know, this connection is modifying the keyboard and can-t write some characters
14:38
<alkisg>
I ran setxkbmap us
14:38
Run setxkbmap it now to fix it
14:39
<markit>
ok, thanks a lot :) Hope to find the solution soon
14:39
I go home in a short time and try with my VMs
14:39
<alkisg>
Cool
14:40
<markit>
:(
14:41
if is a x11vnc but it will take a huge amount of time to be processed and fixed, if is a kde problem even more, lol
14:41
<alkisg>
:/
14:42
The good things about open source!
14:42
(and the standard reply would be "they accept patches"!)
14:42
<markit>
yeah, if you are skilled enough
14:43
lol, even if sometime they even don't accept them
14:43
is school already started in Greek?
14:43
<alkisg>
Yes, september 10th
14:44
<markit>
here too
