well, sometimes it's good to publish a branch with major changes for review before committing to trunk, is all.
it also helps reduce the noise in the commit logs when features are merged (at least, if you default to using "bzr log --short")
stgraber: ldm 2.0.28 is in http://incoming.debian.org for the next 1-2 hours ... if you care to grab it.
and then it disappears for a while until it hits the real mirrors.
that's enough uploading for one night :)

vagrantc, why does #485795 still appear open? is it because it hasn't gotten an email to "email@example.com"? is that intentional?

can i simply boot my laptop by connecting it to router
daredevilthere, look at /usr/share/doc/ltsp-server/QuickInstall
not sure if it's up to date, but it's worth a try ;)
if not, see this:
Ryan52: "docs" is For the most current documentation, see http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/LtspDocumentationUpstream
ya, looks like /usr/share/doc/ltsp-server/QuickInstall is up to date.

(for Ubuntu, and yet I have the same exact file on Debian...)
It says me to intall some pakages .
do i have to install something on the other pc to or on just on pc running ltsp
only the main server
you never have to do anything on the other computer
it's hard drive is ignored

Ryan52: i have wimax router through which i connect 2 pc's do i need to chage some router settings too
if it's a router, then you may need to disable the dhcp server on it.
if it's just a switch/hub, then it will be fine.
alrite i disable dhcp in it

Hey i need some help
i installed lstp-server and dhcp3-server
but dhcp3-server is not starting
what's the error?
whn i start it it fails
okay, but what's the error?
fail means nothing to me.
or maybe /var/log/syslog
c this http://paste.ubuntu.com/103065/
in the example, you need to change 192.168.15 to your actual network addr.
err, change 192.168.0 to your actual
network address of my pc
|02:49||* Ryan52 can't think of the word|
i did by changing it but at lat i get this Not configured to listen on any interfaces!
change "next-server 192.168.0.1;" to your systems ip.
change "subnet 192.168.0.0" to "subnet 192.168.15.0"
change "range 192.168.0.20 192.168.0.250;" to "range 192.168.15.20 192.168.15.250;"
change the domain-name-servers, broadcast-address, routers to whatever works for your network.
u mean change in here /etc/ltsp/dhcp.conf
wherever your dhcp config is...
probably in /etc/dhcp3/
but it might be in /etc/ltsp/dhcp.conf
|02:56||* Ryan52 doesn't know about Ubuntu specific stuff|
Ryan52: Its started . thanks
yay! good job! :)
but wht does next-server means
thats the server that it tries to talk to get the ltsp stuff from.
so it would be your ip.
Ryan52: one more question. Do we next to configure etho to static ip before starting dhcp3-server
yeah, you should.
oh that was the mistake i was making
i though dhcp would itself configure it
Ryan52: i m getting some error again
Its retrieving some pakages

while running sudo ltsp-build-client my pc restart now do i have to remove all pakages and restart all over again
you could just remove the client it was building
and run ltsp-build-client again
Appiah: will it resume frm where i left or downlaod all pakages again
if it's LTSP5
no it will start over
can i resume it coz it was abt to end whn problem account
does it take long to build on your server?
that long that you can't just restart?
I have no idea on how to resume , maybe chroot into the client image , run apt-get -f install and see if it resums
Appiah: no it was downloading linux image whn my pc restarted some electrity problem
then run each step that the ltsp-build-client script does by hand or ltsp-update-image
but that's just a guess
much more safe if you just restart it
rm -rf /opt/ltsp/i386 , then ltsp-build-client
well are all these pakages are installed on my system or just in /opt directory
ltsp-build-client only install packages in the client image /opt/ltsp/~arch
~arch = i386 example
so they are not in your system
but in the "client" system
but that client image is proboly corrupted so much safer to just delete and build it again
wht about if i use sudo ltsp-build-client --extra-help
well that probly displays more then I know about the ltsp-build-client script :D
some option so that it installs frm pc all deb files that i alrady have
Do you have a really slow connection or a slow computer?
beacuse if you just did a remove and then build again you would be done now...
not that slow but still it takes time.512kbps
alrite but can i install it frm a cd ?
think there's a mirror option
check the manual/help
--mirror http://mylocalserver or --mirror file://cdrom
but check the help I never used it
alrite let me check

i guess there is a public source code repository for ltsp? where?
the ltsp web sites are somewhat confusing... lots of outdated stuff there :-/
yes, they need an overhaul
http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/LtspDocumentationUpstream is the recent one
i am looking for the current trunk source of ldm
and then we have per distro pages on the respective distro helpsites
which vcs is that? bazaar? how do i checkout the repo?
its written at the top of the page
Get this branch: bzr branch lp:~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ltsp-trunk
i don't see that
on https://code.launchpad.net/~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ltsp-trunk ?
was looking at ./changes
ldm is respective https://code.launchpad.net/~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ldm-trunk
ogra: thanks. as i see, the trunk ldm/greeter has i18n support :)
good, no work for me :)
its there since a while
i'm still running ubuntu 8.04
ah, yeah, it entered ubuntu past 8.04
i guess i should consider an update
8.04 was very conservative, we kept most new features out of it and only fixed bugs that were known from 7.10
8.10 has all the new stuff
i'll give it a try soon
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/ btw, if you dont already know it
hm, looks interesting
i am running 8.04 ltsp quite successfully since a few months

johnny, do you have any other easy installation link

johnny, i have a ubuntu ver 5.10 cd, can you just give me a good link of installing ltsp on ubuntu because this will be my first try

it does mention the K12Linux LiveUSB respin
you could get that instead
if you are more familiar with fedora over ubuntu
