Hi, does anyone have any info on how multiseat (4-6 persons on 1 PC with 4-6 monitors, mice, keyboards etc) compares to LTSP? I mean performance-wise... Example: http://netpatia.blogspot.com/2008/02/multiseat-computer-with-ubuntu-804.html

Hi. I have ltsp 5 working fine, but i can't login in thin-clients on local terminal. How can I do that?
what do you mean ? tty1 ?
I already have set the password for root in chroot.
and what does it say ? account locked ?
stgraber: it doenst say nothing, just login incorrect
try passwd -u root in the chroot, then rebuild the image
the account is locked by default so setting a password will have no effect as it's not allowed to login anyway
stgraber: omg... I forgot this...
stgraber: thank you... I am going to test this...
stgraber: thank you. I am rebuilding the image.

stgraber: It works with another user, but with root it doent work. But now the error is: Account expired.
|08:31||moldy_ has quit IRC|
looking at the scripts we have in Intrepid, it looks like doing
passwd -u root
in the chroot should correctly unlock the account and set the password
stgraber: yeah... and the /etc/shadow has a password setted for root

stgraber: Do you know about slowdown in ltsp 5? I have some thin-clients here and the top on client show me 99% and idle > 5.0

and is ssh!
ssh is using all this...
I am talking with you from another machine with pxe. And this machine works very fine

that way X events will go outside SSH, it might help

sbalneav: hey, do you have anything against doing: http://paste.ubuntu.com/51660/ ?
sbalneav: I haven't tested the patch yet as my test lab is at the office but that should make ldm prompt the password only once, then ask for the login again. Instead of having to enter three times a wrong password before you can login again.
stgraber: LDM_DIRECTX worked. And ssh is not being used a lot. But the thin-client is very low...
stgraber: any idea to gain performance?
well, DIRECTX is usually the way to gain performance :)
other than that, maybe the X driver is wrong
stgraber: yes.. I have gain.
stgraber: not.. the X driver is correct, I have checkout that on xorg.conf.
stgraber: the cpu usage for X11 is too high
stgraber: Firefox for example is very low to load pages...
|09:36||cpunches2 has joined #ltsp|

stgraber: do you know problems with this?

does it works with ltsp 5?
yeah but it won't be fast :)
how much ram do you have ?
using 30 on this moment
There is some recomendations to use ltsp 5?

petre: any progress on packaging it?
petre: i'm trying to do the final steps to do a release
petre: ldm theming, fix the bug where it shows Shutdown/Reboot/Hibernate/etc
yes: I've got a spec file, eharrison helped me with it
I think I can run rpmbuild with it, gonna try this afternoon
do I need to make a src rpm?
since it's all just docs?
will the ldm theming be configurable?
petre: configurable yes
petre: we need a .src.rpm and the spec to be properly formed
petre: the package must be added to fedora proper
Eric gave me one if his spec files that we just doctored up to fit the readme
so I think the form is probably okay, but I'll let the fedora folks be the deciders
petre: please follow the process to submit the package for review
petre: we need to go through the process to add it to fedora
petre: i'll do the review
right, I wrote that all down, will follow what you said
warren: i have an ssh problem .. it is not ltsp related .. could you spare a few minutes to listen to the problem ??
warren, for the spec file, should the Group be System? or Documentation? or something else?
petre: Group is irrelevant, you can have anything there
petre: just pick something

http://people.redhat.com/duffy/tmp/logoproofs2.png Maureen Duffy finished this ~2 weeks ago
i'm not entirely happy with it
but we have to go with something
right, you go with what you've got
I think I'll choose A1
(my dad was in broadcasting, and that was their mantra for when airtime came)
oh; I don't care for the 'chalk' letters so much; wish there was a mixed set
I think I like A3 better, but that's just me
any of them is fine, I'm sure

nubae1: bad time right now

Nubae, from ltsp-update-sshkeys: IPS=$(ip -o -f inet addr show | sed -e 's,.* \(.*\)/.*,\1,' | grep -v '^127')
ah thanks alkisg, exactly what I needed
But do you really need it in ltsp-build-client? IPs may change...
E.g. ltsp-update-sshkeys is called in if-up.d for this reason...

hey, just a quick notice, all of LTSP-Cluster has now been uploaded to Launchpad. Test packages are at: https://launchpad.net/~ltsp-cluster-team/+archive and the code is on https://code.launchpad.net/ltsp-cluster
we are now working on bugfixes and documentation, I hope to have an installation guide for Ubuntu using OpenVZ by the hand of the week.
