Hi, does anyone have any info on how multiseat (4-6 persons on 1 PC with 4-6 monitors, mice, keyboards etc) compares to LTSP? I mean performance-wise... Example: http://netpatia.blogspot.com/2008/02/multiseat-computer-with-ubuntu-804.html

<f13_>
Hi. I have ltsp 5 working fine, but i can't login in thin-clients on local terminal. How can I do that?
08:17
<stgraber>
what do you mean ? tty1 ?
08:18
<f13_>
I already have set the password for root in chroot.
08:18
stgraber: yes
08:18
<stgraber>
and what does it say ? account locked ?
08:18
<f13_>
stgraber: it doenst say nothing, just login incorrect
08:19
<stgraber>
try passwd -u root in the chroot, then rebuild the image
08:20
the account is locked by default so setting a password will have no effect as it's not allowed to login anyway
08:20
<f13_>
stgraber: omg... I forgot this...
08:20
stgraber: thank you... I am going to test this...
08:20
ltsp-update-image
08:20
ok?
08:22
<stgraber>
yeah
08:23
<f13_>
stgraber: thank you. I am rebuilding the image.

<stgraber>
weird ...
08:33
looking at the scripts we have in Intrepid, it looks like doing
08:33
passwd -u root
08:33
passwd root
08:34
in the chroot should correctly unlock the account and set the password
08:34
<f13_>
stgraber: yeah... and the /etc/shadow has a password setted for root

sbalneav: hey, do you have anything against doing: http://paste.ubuntu.com/51660/ ?
09:30
sbalneav: I haven't tested the patch yet as my test lab is at the office but that should make ldm prompt the password only once, then ask for the login again. Instead of having to enter three times a wrong password before you can login again.
09:31
<f13_>
stgraber: LDM_DIRECTX worked. And ssh is not being used a lot. But the thin-client is very low...
09:31
:(
09:32
stgraber: any idea to gain performance?
09:32
<stgraber>
well, DIRECTX is usually the way to gain performance :)
09:32
other than that, maybe the X driver is wrong
09:32
<f13_>
stgraber: yes.. I have gain.
09:33
stgraber: not.. the X driver is correct, I have checkout that on xorg.conf.
09:33
stgraber: the cpu usage for X11 is too high
09:34
stgraber: Firefox for example is very low to load pages...

09:40
<f13_>

09:40
using 30 on this moment
09:40

petre: i'm trying to do the final steps to do a release
13:35
petre: ldm theming, fix the bug where it shows Shutdown/Reboot/Hibernate/etc
13:36
<petre>
yes: I've got a spec file, eharrison helped me with it
13:37
I think I can run rpmbuild with it, gonna try this afternoon
13:37
do I need to make a src rpm?
13:37
since it's all just docs?
13:37
will the ldm theming be configurable?
13:40
<warren>
petre: configurable yes
13:40
<petre>
cool!
13:40
<warren>
petre: we need a .src.rpm and the spec to be properly formed
13:40
petre: the package must be added to fedora proper
13:41
<petre>
Eric gave me one if his spec files that we just doctored up to fit the readme
13:41
so I think the form is probably okay, but I'll let the fedora folks be the deciders
13:45
<warren>
petre: please follow the process to submit the package for review
13:46
petre: we need to go through the process to add it to fedora
13:46
petre: i'll do the review

right, I wrote that all down, will follow what you said

ah thanks alkisg, exactly what I needed
15:26
<alkisg>
But do you really need it in ltsp-build-client? IPs may change...
