<EversonCaratti>
cliebow_, i'm tryed all choices of lpq/lprm and cups browser interface, but only I restart cupsys to stop printer sended to spool !

Hi, please I need help to access a floppy at client. I used ltsp 4.0 until last week, for 2 years, and to access a local floppy I used smb://nobody@wsXX/floppy , but now I don't know what I have to do !!! Anyone can help me?
11:00
I've already read the LTSP 4.2 Local Device support.
11:00
I follow the steps, but what I have to do to access the floppy ?
11:01
<sbalneav>
Have you installed fuse, and ltspfs and all that?
11:01
<moquist>
ogra: ping
11:01
<mascote>
sbalvneav: yes, I get the fuse and compile.
11:03
sbalneav: at prompt I type ltspf and the TAB key, and the command ltspfs auto-complete !
11:04
<sbalneav>
What kind of server are you using?
11:05
If you've installed things correctly, then just look in $HOME/drives, and it should be there.

<mascote>
sbalneav: I do it at a text console or a graphic console?
11:09
<sbalneav>
graphics is fine.
11:10
<mascote>
sbalneav: I'm using KDE 3.3, and at my local files (konqueror) I don't have the drives directory!
11:11
<sbalneav>
ok, so you haven't set it up properly then.
11:11
!checklist
11:11
<ltspbot`>
sbalneav: "checklist" is The checklist for debugging problems with local device access is at http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/LTSP-42-LocalDev#Troubleshooting. Please work through all 12 steps, record the results, and paste the results to the pastebot at http://pastebot.ltsp.org
11:11
<sbalneav>
Work through that checklist
11:12
<mascote>
sbalneav: is there any file to monitor the logs?
11:13
<sbalneav>
Sure, read the checklist
11:14
there's a whole bunch of information on there, a step by step process to get it going.
11:19
<mascote>
sbalneav: ok, I follow the steps and I note that I don't have the /tmp/drivers directory!
11:20
sbalneav: but I have the lbuscd running.
11:20
sbalneav: I have the correct hostname (ws3) too !
11:20
<sbalneav>
Why don't you complete all the steps, and mail me the complete results, step by step, to sbalneav@ltsp.org
11:21
<mascote>
sbalneav: at lts.conf I just write the line: LOCAL_STORAGE = Y
11:21
sbalneav: the #cat /etc/version show me "4.2 update 3"
11:21
<sbalneav>
no, not here
11:21
write them in an email, send them to me all at once.

<ogra>
Gadi, pong ...
11:24
<Gadi>
so, I have started putting stock edgy LTSP through some testing hoops - have you ever looked at video performance of edgyLTSP vs LTSP 4.2?
11:24
<ogra>
nope
11:25
<Gadi>
now, granted, I need to come up to speed a bit on all the other video/framebuffer related stuff that Ubuntu loads,
11:25
<ogra>
and i totally dont have the time atm to discuss it ... i'm packing and sorting travel stuff for flying to poland tomorrow morning ... can we talk about it next week ?
11:25
<Gadi>
but, I am finding on a few different pieces of client hardware a video hit as compared to 4.2
11:25
ah, ok
11:25
sorry
11:25
sure - have a safe trip
11:25
is poland a vacation?
11:26
<sbalneav>
Gadi: You doing the ssh tunneling?
11:26
<Gadi>
sbalneav: I have been experimenting with both ldm video and xdmcp
11:26
both seem to be worse than on a 4.2 box
11:26
I am working on tracking it down
11:27
as I know that a lot of the work is done on vmware
11:27
I figured these kinds of things may escape some testing
11:27
<ogra>
Gadi, nope, meeting with some EU folks that are intreasted in basing on edubuntu

hi guys.. anyone here using rdesktop on LTSP?
12:22
is it possible to open just a windows app, without showing the windows desktop?
12:27
<Gadi>
rdesktop -s <shell> -c <directory>
12:27
hey, ClaudioFelix
12:27
<EversonCaratti>
ClaudioFelix, I am !
12:27
<ClaudioFelix>
hey gadi :) whassup ?
12:27
hmm.. i tried that already gadi.. but it opened up the whole desktop
12:27
let me try again
12:28
<Gadi>
it can take some fiddling to get all the backslashes right
12:28
<ClaudioFelix>
hi everson
12:28
are you from Brazil too? :)
12:28
<Gadi>
and put quotes around the whole thing
12:28
<EversonCaratti>
ClaudioFelix, rdesktop -g 980x650 ip.of.windows.server -k pt-br -T window_title -u username -p password -a 16
12:28
<ClaudioFelix>
Gadi.. i tried it enclosed in single quotes
12:29
<Gadi>
double
12:29
not single
12:29
<ClaudioFelix>
just change it to double?
12:29
ok
12:29
<Gadi>
EversonCaratti: I hope ur not worried about security ;)
12:30
<ClaudioFelix>
hhehee
12:31
for opening just windows explorer, for example, i tried this
12:32
rdesktop IP -c "c:\windows" -s "explorer.exe"
12:32
but it opened up the desktop instead :(
12:32
like a clean rdesktop..
12:33
<Gadi>
try: "rdesktop -c C:\\windows -s explorer.exe <IP>"
12:34
or: "rdesktop -c 'C:\\windows' -s 'explorer.exe' <IP>"
12:35
also, you may need the full path to the executable
12:35
try it on a fat client or the server first
12:35
to get the syntax
12:35
<ClaudioFelix>
yep..
12:35
i'm on the server now
12:36
<Gadi>
and dont use explorer
12:36
use notepad.exe to test
12:37
explorer is the desktop
12:37
<ClaudioFelix>
could it be because i'm trying to access a windows XP desktop?
12:37
(remote assistance)
12:37
instead of terminal services?
12:37
<Gadi>
nah
12:37
try: rdesktop -c C:\\windows -s notepad.exe <IP>
12:37
that worked forme
12:38
<ClaudioFelix>
hmm.. not here :(
12:38
the only different thing i supplied were the user credentials
12:38
with -u user -p -
12:40
very strange..
12:41
hmm.. seems like windows is defined in caps
12:57
Gadi
12:57
<Gadi>
yo
12:57
no va?
12:57
<ClaudioFelix>
too busy now?
12:58
we wanted to talk to you about that BSA stuff..
13:03
<Gadi>
ClaudioFelix: get my pm?
13:03
<ClaudioFelix>

13:03
oh.. yeah
13:03
im talking to you there
13:03

not coming thru
13:03
<ClaudioFelix>

13:03
