Hi dudes!
07:38
How do I make client with the Intel sound chip work without the mic being on full volume all the time?

Gadi: hi, with your last change, you should check for ldm-dialog
08:47
Gadi: usually when you do rdesktop, you don't need ldm installed so you can't really assume the user will have ldm-dialog
08:47mobster_s has joined #ltsp
08:47
<stgraber>
(though in most case it'll be there anyway)
08:48
<Gadi>
roger that
08:48
will make the change
08:48
I added the loop breaking stuff figuring you would use it in -cluster ;)
08:49
<stgraber>
yep, I'll probably update it a bit so each time rdesktop exits, I check if the screen changed in the config
08:49
so one can still easily switch to ldm without rebooting
08:49
<Gadi>
right
08:50
btw, perhaps instead of a check for ldm-dialog in a particular place, I should just 2>/dev/null || true
08:50
that way, if a distro puts it somewhere other than /usr/bin, we're still good
08:51
<stgraber>
usually I do [ -n "$(which ldm-dialog)" ]
08:51
<Gadi>
ah, ok - I guess we can assume a dependency on "which"
08:51
:)
08:51
<stgraber>
though if you don't want to handle the case where it's not there, then redirecting to /dev/null should work just fine
08:52* stgraber hasn't seen a system without "which" for a while :)
08:52
<stgraber>
hmm, it's "debianutils" providing it ...
08:52
<Gadi>
I know - should be faster, tho, to >/dev/null
08:52
<stgraber>
what about the RPM-based ones ?
08:52* Gadi shrugs
08:53
<Gadi>
I think I will redirect to devnull
08:53* ogra wonders if rpm is still an issue in LTAP at all

wh dont you fix it properly in ldm ?
09:33
<Appiah>
What's the proper way to suggest a feature to ldm? launchpad bug report?
09:33
<ogra>
yes
09:34
wishlist bug against the ltsp project should work
09:34
<Appiah>
can I myself set it to "wishlist" ?
09:34
<ogra>
if not, someone here can
09:34
<Appiah>
ah ok
09:36
<Gadi>
ogra: yeah, we fixed the ldm shutdown thing - but I just added the ability to daemonize xinitrc scripts
09:37
which means we have a solution for autlogins and shutdowns, as well
09:37
<ogra>
ah
09:37
<Gadi>
so, you can set it to shutdown upon logout of an autologin session
09:38
which I can see as being useful in some cases
09:39
it's nice to have generalized knobs that are easily turned
09:39
:)
09:39
<ogra>
indeed
09:39
i thought it was your solution to the ldm issue
09:39
<Gadi>
nope
09:39
that was fixed properly
09:39
can't have bugs floating around
09:39
:)
09:39
<ogra>
heh
09:40
<Gadi>
this was actually a generalized way to handle rdesktop
09:40
to make it daemonize without re-xinit'ing
09:40
on idle connection timeouts
09:41
<elias_a_>

Hello all. I am having some problems on some thin clients that seem to be related to the keyboard. On one, I have a problem where the control key seems to stick. I can eventually get it ´un-stuck´ by hitting control-esc a few times... pretty annoying. The other problem is on a different client and on that one... if I want to type quotes for example, I have to type them twice before they appear. I have no idea if these are rel

Other thin clients are working fine?
14:03
<GiantPickle>
I believe so... no complaints anyway. I have 3 clients on the system... I will go check the 3rd right now.
14:05
actually, the 3rd has the same problem with having to type some things twice...
14:05
and to give you more info about that problme
14:06
<sbalneav>
Ok, it's not a case of SOME of your systems are doing this. ALL of your systems are doing this, correct?
14:06
<GiantPickle>
and what makes me think this particular part it is a config issue... is that if I type an apostrophe once, and then hit any letter that can have an accent on it, it gives it one.

alkisg: how technically difficult is the migration?

If you're using a floppy/cd/hard disk etc, you just need one new file. If you're using a boot rom, it's harder, but I don't know the details...
14:48
<akuepker>
ok. I'll look into that. We've been using a custom-compiled 5.2.2 etherboot for our 4.2/Fedora installs, but doesn't work on the new ones either and Google results indicated that the version we had might be too old.
