Well, I'm going to spend some time, see if I can get the /dev/null patch I worked up last week for ldm-trunk going for ldm in hardy. I'll spend today testing it here live.
sbalneav: 'member my struggle with not being able to get into the server on the dhcp side from an outside system? Got it sorted: it had nothing to do with any configs in the server: I add a temp static route in my system to the host, et voila! - solved.
sbalneav, bug and debdiff or patch please :)
i'll care for the paperwork ... though dont expect it to enter hardy before intrepid final, everyone is in pre release stress atm
ogra: haven't I seen your handle in the CentOs corner?
ogra: Will do.
Did that other patch I submitted for the password expiry get submitted?
wpgmb, unlikely :)
wpgmb, what does ogra have to do with centos?
wpgmb, i'm the buntu guy
ogra: sorry - case of mistaken identity :o)
and mr scotty too
wpgmb, i wrote a lot of ltsp5 so my name might be scattered all over the code
ogra: I'm your typical pita end-user: hardly look at the scripts :o)
(muses: If I want a beer right now, does that make me an alcoholic?)

yeah, totally timezone depending :)

moodle.org has a moodle exchange program, where people share their content... there's some good stuff there

everybody can start one
but after the first couple of days, 90% are abandoned
its easier if there is a community I suppose

Hi, I'm using LTSP 5 on Debian Lenny, with the official packages; I'm having trouble getting automatic logins to work. I've set up accounts on the server, and put stanzas with LDM_USERNAME and LDM_PASSWORD in /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf but I'm still getting the standard greeter when ldm boots up.
|14:03||samt__ has quit IRC|
and LDM_AUTOLOGIN=Y ?
Ah, that wasn't mentioned in the edubuntu handbook I was reading ;)
|14:04||* Lns thinks an wiki article for autologin is needed|
Hmm, still not working - can I read ldm's logs somewhere?
yes.. on the client
That just tells me "Spawning Xorg", "Launching greeter", "In get_userid"
The MAC address in /etc/lts.conf definitely matches, and I can ssh as the specified user with the specified password into the server.
|14:10||topslakr_ has quit IRC|
Do I need to do anything to make changes to /etc/lts.conf "stick" on the client, or is restarting the X server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace sufficient?
|14:11||topslakr_ has joined #ltsp|
PerfDave: I'd reboot them so it can read lts.conf again..might be wrong, but that's what i'd do just to make sure
PerfDave: what distro you using?
Lns: Debian Lenny
The changelog suggests that it does have autologin stuff enabled
restart the clients yes
"alkisg" pasted "Xorg.7.log" (691 lines) at http://pastebot.ltsp.org/59
Hi guys, I'm trying to change the refresh rate of the clients, but when I change anything X-related to lts.conf, my clients hang at boot.
PerfDave: reboot to get new lts.conf settings.
They work OK with nothing in lts.conf. I tried to get the xorg.conf from the clients, but there wasn't any!!!
OK, that's annoying but understandable.
So all I got is the above Xorg.7.log file, I can't get anything else...
Hmm, it seems to work with LDM_AUTOLOGIN=true rather than LDM_AUTOLOGIN=Y :/
all cases of true, y, yes should be treated the same.
