Oh - that one.
asmok: One more bug hunted? :D
this s first time i run this kind of problem, but this in now first time 64 server as a root, control and balancer server
elias_a: yes, indeed
elias_a: but i think there is nothing i can do, becuase TC boot all the way to the application server, LDM is missing, because i can't tell it to the root server by web admin
elias_a: btw i will do my howto for 64 environment, just chroot is of course i386
elias_a: i have my howto already, but i like know is this me, or real bug
I have no chance of replicating the bug this week, nor weekend.
Actually I have not got a 64 bit computer for that either...
elias_a: yes, i wait for wise guys to show up...
elias_a: my friend is professional photographer, he upgrade his gears, so i buy his old one - Mac G5/Double processor/6G + Apple Cinema 20" - I put DEbian inside and then I have real server for fun...

**NO way ...
alkisg_work: TC boot and i can login via ssh in chroot, but there is no LDM, because i can't use web admin - there is no other way to tell 'LDM_SERVER = %LOADBALANCER%' !?
asmok: how else can I say this? I DONT KNOW

(non-ltsp related): I'm looking for a utility to bypass NAT connections, like ssh -R, but one that doesn't involve user accounts. E.g. I may be able to do this with netcat.
Clients A and B are behind NATs. Server S has a public IP. I got root access on all of them. I want to be able to map e.g. the vnc port 5900 of client A to port 12345 of the server, so that B can connect to it. Any utilities for that? (I guess I need two utilities, one for the server and one for client A).

alkisg, take a look at using a STUN server or ICE, they are pretty good methods of bypassing NAT
Can STUN be used to e.g. connect to an ssh server behing nat?
Or is it only used with specific software?
(I'm basically looking for both ssh and italc==vnc)

|09:20||F-GT has quit IRC|
|09:25||F-GT has joined #ltsp|
alkisg, yep, telepathy bypasses NAT by using STUN
not sure how stun works in a general sense, but with telepathy, its a parameter that is given to the connection manager
nubae|work: and I assume that I can have my own STUN server (which does have a public IP, of course)?
usually STUN servers are public, and what they do is parse udp packets that tell the clients what ports to use
I'd guess so, yeah, though it might not even be needed
one can use vinagre and vino to to video streaming via telepathy
that should actually bypass NAT
there was a nice article about this, let me see if I can dig it up... Nokia is behind this...
gtalk also uses stun
|09:32||The_Code has quit IRC|
So there aren't any existing tools for vnc through stun, I'd have to patch up something, right?
Thanks nubae|work :)

well, I do remember it being mentioned that vnc can do nat traversal somehow, but can't remember exactly where

alkisg: Just kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init.
What do you see above that?
This is an Etherboot client.

Gadi: I walk in today and they're complaining.
I forget, where to I turn off splash, quiet?
|11:44||Pulga has joined #ltsp|
ah, yes - last guy with this problem resolved it by turning off splash
is it a PXE etherboot image?
if so, you can edit /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/pxelinux.cfg/default
and remove "splash"
if it straight etherboot, you need to do the funny dhcpd.conf params
I have this commented, and using nbi.img instead.
# filename "/ltsp/i386/vmlinuz.etherboot";
PMantis: are you absolutely sure it won't boot if you force-send pxelinux.0 to it?
disabled splash quiet

i was reading wiki ubuntu, debug local dev because I want to mount my TC's local HD. I'm having problems fuse module isn't runing. what can I do?
Pulga, but do usb keys work?
i want to mount my hard disk
usb is going well
then local dev isn't what you need
you need a seperate parameter for local hard disk
where it is?
Oh, is loading nbi.img the best way to boot via etherboot?
Pulga, use the locate command to find it..
i'm using ltsp 5
LOCALDEV_DENY_INTERNAL_DISKS = False
i'll see it now
Gadi, how long is that parameter there?
hmm.. why is it true by default Gadi ?
its a big security hole
alkisg: "Not a valid image", since this NIX doesn't support PXE.
gives you unfettered access to local hard drive
PMantis: ok, thanks for testing this
Gadi, it's also called a feature for many..
like Pulga here
we like to err on the side of more secure
|11:52||* alkisg doesn't see LOCALDEV_DENY_INTERNAL_DISKS in lts-parameters.txt ;)|
and let people loosen security as needed
its in ltspfs since 0.5.7
Gadi, then ubuntu should ship with more default options then .. commented out
Gadi: the pxelinux.cfg/default didnt' help... what's the DHCP way for etherboot non-splash?
|11:53||* Gadi agrees whole-heartedly|
an then see /path/to/parameters.txt for more
Gadi, is this with ltspfs, like the usb sticks? Cache flushing every 2 secs etc?
/me flushes alkisg
down the toilet? :P
PMantis: hmm... I need to jump start some synapses
alkisg: yes - for localdev
Gadi, probably a good idea to ignore it for ide/sata devices
or perhaps just ide.. since sata can hotplug..

the parameter "LOCALDEV_DENY_INTERNAL_DISKS" is not written in lts-parameters.txt. other thing is that lts.conf says: **** THIS FILE SHOULD NO LONGER BE USED FROM HERE !!! ****. should I edit it?
not that one Pulga you need one in the tftp dir
put this parameter in /var/lib/.....??
add [default] at the top of the file before it
after doing this, i'll restart my TC and where its HD will be mounted??
