Hello! The problem with printing - printers do not work. On terminal <code> Bus 003 Device 002: ID 03f0:3e17 Hewlett-Packard LaserJet P1006 </code> <code>$ls /dev/usb/lp0</code>. in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/amd64/lts.conf made PRINTER_0_DEVICE=/dev/usb/lp0. However, nmap says that the port 9100 is closed, and must be open, as I understand it. Help, please

os_a: distro/version?
07:19
<os_a>
Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
07:19
ltsp-server 5.5.1-1ubuntu2
07:19
<alkisg>
os_a: there's a bug in that version, jetpipe doesn't start
07:20
So you need to either apply a patch, or put an RCFILE_xx line in lts.conf to manually start it
07:20
<os_a>
How can I apply a patch?

jetpipe: (#1) Jetpipe -script has founded to be unstable in some cases. You can try C written Jetpipe from GitHub https://github.com/bilange/jetpipe or switch it to USB/IP and use these scripts http://pastebin.com/Ltdi2TCL Support AIO devices as well., or (#2) Jetpipe -script has founded to be unstable in some cases. Ignore that, let me find the correct advice...
07:23
<os_a>
Ok
07:24
<alkisg>
RCFILE_01="/usr/sbin/jetpipe /dev/usb/lp0 9100 &"
07:24
You need a command similar to that one, in lts.conf
07:25
(in addition to what you already have there)
07:25
Ah sorry no, replacing what you have there
07:25
I.e. replace PRINTER_0_DEVICE with RCFILE_01
07:26
To solve such issues, you could also use the greek schools ppa, which has newer versions of ltsp
07:26
!greek-ppa

!learn jetpipe as jetpipe has a bug in some Ubuntu versions, to manually start it, put something like this in lts.conf: `RCFILE_01="/usr/sbin/jetpipe /dev/usb/lp0 9100 &"`

!learn fatclients as Nowadays LTSP supports thin and fat clients. They are both diskless and netbooted from the same LTSP chroot, but while thin clients run the session on the server and transfer the screen, fat clients run the session locally with their own CPU/RAM, thus performing amazingly better. See also !ltsp-pnp and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/FatClients
